The exam is provided by The Project Management Institute (PMI)® which must be arranged after you have completed the required 35 contact hours.

The most coveted PMP Certification Exam takes the following format:

  • 200 multiple choice questions
  • duration – 4 hrs with no scheduled breaks
  • A calculator is provided (you may not bring your own)
  • As it’s a CBT(Computer Based Test), you will find out your score before you leave the test center

The pass mark is not set. It depends on how you answer questions that are of varying levels of difficulty. Please do not confuse the pass mark with being 61%; it was previously 61% but is no longer a set percentage.

The exam covers 5 key areas in Project Management. The percentages detail what percentage of the questions are covered in each area:

  • Initiating (13%)
  • Planning (24%)
  • Executing (31%)
  • Monitoring and Controlling (25%)
  • Closing (7%)

Total – 100%

Why have changes been introduced in the PMP exam?

The PMP exam has been restructured aligning with the September 2017 release of the PMBOK Guide – Sixth Edition. The changes make sure of the  compatibility between the Guide and the exam. The  Guide is now, quintessentially, one of the key and crucial references for the exam. Although, it does not mean that only the candidates’ knowledge of the PMBOK Guide will be tested . Also, there will be no change in the PMP Course or Exam Content Outline.

When and Where do I take the exam?

PMP exams are conducted by Pearson VUE test centers. However, it is not offered by all Pearson VUE test centers. To find the PMP exam centers please visit : https://home.pearsonvue.com/pmi As Pearson VUE test centers offer several other certification, language and skill tests, it is possible that you might not find a timely accessible spot for your PMP exam date. Therefore, we recommend you to schedule your PMP exam at least one month before the date you plan to sit for the exam.

Post PMP training, how much time do I have to schedule the PMP exam?

After you passed the PMP application, you will have one year to schedule PMP exam date and take the PMP exam. If you do not sit for the PMP exam in one year, you must restart your PMP application.

What is the Certification Validity?
  • Your certification cycle begins the day you pass the exam and acquire the credentials.
  • To maintain your PMP credentials, you are required to earn and report 60 professional development units (PDUs) alongwith submitting the renewal fees, within this 3 year cycle.
